The CLIMB Ferrara project wants to export and adapt the pre-existing CLIMB solution in the Municipality of Ferrara, scaling it in a different urban context. Citizens and Municipality of Ferrara ask for the reduction of cars in front of the school, congesting vehicular traffic, but more than this want to improve health and safety of children, while at the same time supporting families in their daily need to bring children at school. CLIMB Ferrara thus aims at changing the attitude of children, their families and their community towards environmental sustainability challenges, by making the adoption of eco-friendly mobility habits a fun and social experience. CLIMB Ferrara aims at reducing GHG emissions by inducing a collective modal shift from cars to clean sustainable mobility (walking, biking, sharing transport, public transport) in home-school trips for primary and secondary school pupils.

FBK ROLE

FBK is responsible for the analysis of local needs and context, customization and delivery of smart home-school solutions for Ferrara. Moreover, it coordinates the pilot deployment and operation. Finally, it contributes to the definition of a sustainability strategy for large-scale adoption.
