Digital Transformation

Digital Transformation refers to a process of adoption of digital tools and methods by an organisation. In the public sector, while early waves of digitization focused on the transition from analog to (parallel) digital services to increase efficiency and effectiveness of government services, digital transformation aims to redesign and reengineer government services from the ground up to fulfill changing user needs.

The FBK Digital Society Center’s goal is to achieve a measurable positive impact of Digital Transformation in PA and Government through a broader and more effective adoption of digital technologies. With a strong positioning at the local level (Trento city, Trentino region), a wide international network and many successful experiences in societal engagement, the FBK centre shows an excellent track record of funded National and European projects. The main topics of interest are:

  • Innovative public services (through digital  technologies such as Cloud, Data, AI, IoT)
  • Economy & Labour market (Labor market mismatches, labour force resilience, …)
  • Skills & Education (School & life-long learning, Innovative digital education, …)
  • Participation and democracy (Public-civic partnerships, participatory governance, …)

INTERLINK aims to overcome the barriers preventing administrations to reuse and share services with private partners (including citizens) by developing a novel collaborative governance model that merges the enthusiasm and flexibility of grassroot initiatives with the legitimacy and accountability granted by top-down e-government frameworks.

It proposes a novel approach for the delivery of personalized online services, combining emerging technologies for language processing and machine learning with the wisdom of the crowd, to make interactions with the PA easier, more efficient and effective. It combines top-down knowledges with bottom-up contributions.

WeLive aims to bridge the gap between innovation and adoption of open government services and to catalyse public services by empowering citizens, public administrations, local businesses and companies to directly participate in the design, creation, selection and delivery of some of the public services in the form of mobile apps.

SCAN II aims at better enforcing the European Small Claims Procedure (ESCP) judgments through creating a Roadmap of the 26 EU Member States’ (MSs) enforcement rules and simplification and digitalization of the enforcement procedures.
